ADB's Work in the Kyrgyz Republic

The Kyrgyz Republic joined ADB in 1994. In recent years, the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic has maintained a strong development agenda to reduce poverty through inclusive economic growth.

The government and ADB worked together to strengthen the health sector, promote social protection, reform legal and regulatory frameworks, improve the country’s business environment, provide access to affordable finance, improve the reliability of electricity services, enhance transport connectivity and urban mobility, and help Kyrgyz citizens become more employable.

Forecasts are based on ADB's flagship publication, the Asian Development Outlook. Updated four times a year, it analyzes economic and development issues in developing countries in Asia and the Pacific.

Development indicators for Kyrgyz Republic, including a selection of economic, environmental, and social indicators used globally to track progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals.

Results achieved are aggregate amounts of outputs and outcomes from operations reported in project completion reports and extended annual review reports circulated for the year.

Cofinancing operations enable ADB’s financing partners, governments or their agencies, multilateral financing institutions, and commercial organizations to participate in financing ADB projects.

ADB began its operations in the Kyrgyz Republic in 1994. The Kyrgyz Republic Resident Mission (KYRM) was established in 2000.

KYRM's primary role includes:

  • Implementation of ADB's overall business plan in the country
  • Coordination of the country strategy and programming
  • Portfolio management
  • Project administration
  • Support for strategic policy dialogue
  • Regional cooperation
  • Coordination of ADB activities with the government, development partners, nongovernment organizations, academic institutions, private sector, and other members of civil society
  • External relations and information dissemination
