Tajikistan: Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Corridors 3 and 5 Enhancement Project
The project was approved to address the need to enhance the Sayron-Karamyk section to extend road service life and improve road safety and maintenance for better serviceability. The project's expected impact was enhanced regional economic cooperation and inclusive economic growth in Tajikistan. Its envisaged outcome was improved regional network (CAREC corridors 3 and 5 and the subnetwork) connectivity. This report validates the completion report's assessment of the project. Tonga: Strengthening Macroeconomic Resilience Program
The program was approved to address the impacts of the pandemic and to continue the reforms under the Tonga Strategic Development Framework (TSDF), 2015–2025. The intended impact of the program was a more inclusive, sustainable, and dynamic knowledge-based economy promoted; a more responsive good governance achieved; and adverse social and economic impact by the COVID‑19 pandemic reduced. Its expected outcome was an enhanced macroeconomic resilience of Tonga. This report validates the completion report's assessment of the program. IED overall assessment: Less than successful. -
Azerbaijan: Improving Governance and Public Sector Efficiency Program (Subprograms 1 and 2)
The policy-based loan (PBL) of two subprograms had the objective of strengthening public sector governance and diversifying the economy through private sector development. -
Tuvalu: Improved Fiscal and Infrastructure Management Program
The program facilitated reforms aimed at improving public financial management (PFM) and infrastructure management. It sought to improve the quality, efficiency, and accountability of Tuvalu’s public financial system and practices. The program also supported the strengthening of Tuvalu’s institutional and legal framework to better construct, manage, and maintain public and private physical assets—with the objective of improving service delivery. This report validates the completion report's assessment of the program. IED overall assessment: Successful. -
Uzbekistan: Talimarjan Power Project
The project was to help strengthen the country’s energy security and build the capacity of UzbekEnergo, the sole power sector utility in the country, to operate combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plants, which utilize a more efficient technology. The project also aimed to enhance regional energy trade as Uzbekistan’s increased energy production could benefit other countries in the region, which was in line with the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) program. -
People’s Republic of China: Wuhan Urban Environmental Improvement Project
The project was designed to solve the city’s environmental and climate challenges through investments in facilities designed to manage about half of the sludge produced by Wuhan’s wastewater treatment plants in 2008. The intended outcome was integrated urban water resource management, and wastewater sludge treatment and disposal. This report validates the completion report's assessment of the project. India: Rural Connectivity Investment Program (Tranche 3 and Multitranche Financing Facility)
The program was to provide a medium-term, consistent, predictable, and coordinated support to the sector agencies involved in developing, operating, and managing rural roads. The program’s expected impact was the reduction in poverty and deprivation, and inclusive socioeconomic growth of the communities within the investment program roads. Its intended outcome was improved and sustained connectivity of selected rural communities in the investment program states to markets, district headquarters, and other centers of economic activity. -
India: Assam Power Sector Enhancement Investment Program (Tranche 4 and Multitranche Financing Facility)
The program aimed to enhance access to power and improve energy efficiency of Assam's power system. Tranches 1 and 2 financed transmission infrastructure, and tranche 3 the distribution infrastructure. Tranche 4 was focused on Assam’s central and upper zones. Tranche 4's expected impact was enhanced quality and expanded service delivery of electricity in Assam. Its intended outcome was increased operational capacity of Assam Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APDCL). -
Viet Nam: Integrated Rural Development Sector Project in the Central Provinces
The project aimed to enhance livelihood opportunities and standards of living for the rural population residing in the central region of Viet Nam. The project’s target outcome was “improved quality, greater coverage, and better integration of rural infrastructure in the Central Region with an increased awareness for the need for operation and maintenance (O&M).” This report validates the completion report's assessment of the project. IED overall assessment: Less than successful. -
People’s Republic of China: Ningxia Irrigated Agriculture and Water Conservation Demonstration Project
The project was designed to expand water-saving irrigation for agriculture and strengthen the local partnership model between enterprises and farm households. It also aimed to promote sustainable farming practices and improve the agricultural value chain. This report validates the completion report's assessment of the project.
