Mr. Tumiwa is Advisor, Climate Change and Sustainable Development Department and Chief of the Fragile and Conflict-Affected Situations team at the Asian Development Bank. He joined ADB in 2001 as a Renewable Energy Specialist and held several positions in the energy sector leading policy dialogue with the governments, managing project design, and overseeing implementation, especially in renewable energy and energy efficiency, throughout South and Central Asia. Most notably Mr. Tumiwa developed ADB’s clean energy program, access to energy program and established the Clean Energy Financing Partnership Facility. Mr. Tumiwa also served and the Deputy Representative for North America in Washington, D.C. from 2011-2016 and as ADB’s Country Director in Afghanistan from 2017-2019.
Prior to ADB, he worked in a design engineering firm in Washington, D.C. where he worked on development projects, developed strategic partnerships and identified business opportunities that helped bring in new contracts from private sector clients and international donor agencies.
Mr. Tumiwa is an Indonesian national. He has over 30 years of professional experience in international development and strategic partnerships, including over 20 years in ADB.
