ADB continues to be the leading multilateral development partner for Sri Lanka, providing support in transport, energy, and urban sectors, and expanding focus to developing railways and improving higher education.

ADB will support Sri Lanka's transition to upper middle-income country status through its country partnership strategy (CPS) 2018–2022.

The proposed technical assistance will prepare a strategy for the strategic development of the railway transport sector and the multimodal integration of railway transport with other modes of transport.
