Mafalda Pinto
Water and Sanitation Specialist (Young Professional)

Mafalda Pinto is a civil engineer, with 7 years’ experience in municipal wastewater treatment and water management. She has worked as design engineer in the private sector on international assignments in the design and engineering of municipal water, wastewater, fecal sludge networks, and treatment plants.
Mafalda has experience in Europe (Portugal and Ireland) and the Middle East. Her special interest is in wastewater and fecal sludge management, and circular economy applied to this sector. She joined ADB in 2020 as a Young Professional under SAER, before joining the Water Sector Group.
Mafalda holds a MSc in Civil Engineering for Instituto Superior Tecnico, University of Lisbon and is a Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland.
