Uzbekistan: Integrated Perinatal Care Project
The project aligns with the first operational strategy of ADB's Strategy 2030, which aims to achieving better health for all by improving the quality and coverage of government healthcare services and supporting to improve access to quality healthcare services. ADB has a long experience in the health sector of Uzbekistan. The Country Partnership Strategy (CPS) 2019-2023, in line with the government's new health strategy, states that it will support '(&) reducing maternal and child mortality, the ruralurban disparities in the quality of health care provision, and will assist in the development of an e-health system, aiming at integrating different levels of health care and increasing its efficiency_. In general, the project aligns with SDG 3 on UHC, and in particular SDG 3.1.1 on reducing MMR and SDG 3.2.2 on reducing NMR, and SDG 5 on universal access to reproductive health.

Project Rationale and Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy | The proposed Improvement of Perinatal Care Project (IPCP) is a project loan. The transaction TA will help the Government of Uzbekistan to (i) review the technical, economic and financial viability of the project and ascertain the project rationale, scope, cost, schedule, implementation arrangements, risks and mitigation measures; (ii) ensure compliance with Asian Development Bank's (ADB) safeguard policy statement (2009) and identify mitigation measures and institutional strengthening; and (iii) assist the project executing agency (EA) and implementing agency (IA) in advance contracting for the ensuing loan project. | ||||
