ADB supports projects in developing member countries that create economic and development impact, delivered through both public and private sector operations, advisory services, and knowledge support.
Mr. Asif Cheema is the Director for the Urban Development and Social Sectors Division of the East Asia Department of ADB and previously was deputy country director of ADB’s Pakistan Resident Mission. He joined ADB in 2014 and was initially part of the private sector operations department. He started his career at Deutsche Bank Securities, New York as an Equity Research Associate in 1996. After that he worked in various financial institutions including J.P. Morgan Securities, New York; HSBC Investment Bank, Dubai and London; Nomura International, Dubai as Executive Director, Corporate Finance and Investment Banking. He also has worked at Alpen Capital, Dubai, and the UAE. Asif holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Yale University and course work in International Affairs from Columbia University and Bachelor of Science in accounting and finance from New York Institute of Technology, New York.
