The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is undertaking a comprehensive review and update of its Safeguard Policy Statement (SPS). The policy was approved by the ADB Board in July 2009 and has been under implementation since January 2010. The update process has been initiated by ADB Management following a Corporate Evaluation of the SPS by ADB’s Independent Evaluation Department (IED), completed in May 2020.
