For 15 years, ADB and Georgia have worked together to help the country’s economy grow and improve people’s lives.

Since 2007, ADB has delivered over $4 billion in assistance to the government and private sector with visible results.

Starting with growth recovery support, ADB has helped Georgia build infrastructure, develop municipal and education services, improve financial inclusion and social protection, and support business development.

Over 180 kilometers of roads, tunnels, and bridges have been built and upgraded to boost regional connectivity and economic opportunities.

Four electricity substations have been upgraded, providing communities with reliable electricity supply.

The metro network in the capital Tbilisi was expanded and modernized, improving accessibility and safety.

More than 300,000 people in the regions now have reliable water and sanitation services.

Work is underway to provide these services in 12 cities and towns.

14 towns and villages are upgrading their historic centers and developing new municipal and educational facilities to improve the quality of life, learning and economic potential in the regions.

ADB helped create a new pension system, provided financing for COVID-19 vaccines and medical supplies and budget support to mitigate the social and economic impacts of the pandemic.

ADB’s assistance to Georgia’s private sector has facilitated access to international capital markets for major service providers and enabled commercial banks to finance small and medium enterprises to help them grow.

The partnership continues to strengthen public sector reforms and governance, enhance education through vocational and skills training, boost agricultural productivity and food security, and transform the country into a regional transport and economic hub.
