1. INTERNSHIP TOPIC:
"Application of Advanced Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, or Process Automation in Internal Audit"

2. SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Office of the Auditor General (OAG) needs an intern to explore feasible applications of advanced data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), or process automation in performance of internal audit activities in OAG. This will include building working prototypes demonstrating automated access to data source systems and processing of data for OAG processes. The application may support internal audit activities around planning, execution of internal audit engagements, or mining existing databases/repositories within OAG. The intern may also be asked to improve existing prototypes available in OAG that utilize advanced data analytics and AI or to automate existing manual processes to enhance efficiency.

The intern will work with different members of OAG in identifying the area to be supported by the prototypes. Depending on the COVID situation and travel restrictions to the Philippines where ADB headquarters are located, OAG prefers to have the intern work on site although it is possible the assignment will be performed fully remotely.

3. PERIOD OF ASSIGNMENT:
• Duration: 8 weeks
• Timing: June 2023

4. LOCATION: ADB Headquarters, Manila, Philippines (or virtually, depending on prevailing travel restrictions)

5. EXPECTED OUTCOMES:
Output :
A working prototype demonstrating the feasibility of adopting technologies and data analytics techniques, such as AI, machine learning, or process automation to support specific internal audit activities. This may include improvements to existing tools in OAG utilizing data analytics and AI or automation of existing manual processes in OAG.

Outcomes:
- Assist OAG in determining whether advanced data analytics, AI technologies, or process automation could be used to expand the current applications in internal audit work.
- Assist OAG in developing new prototypes for different applications of advanced data analytics, AI, or process automation in internal audit work.
- Allow OAG staff to leverage on existing prototypes in performing their work.
- Allow OAG to enhance efficiency of current audit/advisory processes.

Qualifications

6. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Currently enrolled in a Masters or PhD program in Computer Science, Data Science, Finance, or other relevant applied science. Preference for specialization in AI or machine learning.

7. RELEVANT EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Hands-on experience in developing, testing, and using AI or machine learning technologies for cognitive analysis and process automation. Familiarity with internal audit is a plus. Familiar with tools such as Python, R and SQL.
