1. INTERNSHIP TOPIC:
"Climate Change communications"

2. SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
Work closely with DOC staff on ADB climate change communications tactics, content and message development.
Specifically:
• Assist with drafting press releases, articles and feature stories that help explain complex climate change issues to a general audience in plain language.
• Assist with drafting talking points for key spokespeople.
• Pitch ADB stories and spokespeople to local, regional, and international media.
• Assist with producing creative multimedia content, with an emphasis on visual storytelling, for ADB’s digital platforms, including for social media and websites.
• Design and execute a short social media campaign on one of ADB’s climate change priorities for COP28.
• Assist with localizing content and messaging for ADB’s country offices.

3. PERIOD OF ASSIGNMENT:
• Duration: 8 weeks
• Timing: June 2023

4. LOCATION: ADB Headquarters, Manila, Philippines (or virtually, depending on prevailing travel restrictions)

5. EXPECTED OUTCOMES:
• Increase understanding of ADB and its climate change work across Asia and the Pacific, and globally.
• Support the development, preparation and implementation of ADB’s climate change communications tactics, content and message development in the lead-up to COP28 in Dubai, UAE, in November 2023.
• Produce a range of strategic, creative communications content to support ADB’s climate change priorities and initiatives.
• Improve media relations and digital storytelling skills

Qualifications

6. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Currently enrolled in a Masters or PhD program in these preferred areas
- communications, journalism, marketing, public affairs, or a related mass communications field.
- a field directly related to ADB’s climate change work such as science, economics, international affairs etc.

7. RELEVANT EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Ideally the candidate will have a demonstrated interest in, and a broad understanding of, the global development agenda on climate change
• Strong written and verbal communications skills in English • Ability to convey complex messages succinctly
• Ability to prioritize and plan effectively • Knowledge of writing video scripts and story-telling for videos, infographics, and other multimedia material is an asset
• Proficiency in using basic design and video editing softwares
• Familiar with using social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram
• Excellent team player
