Job Vacancy | Thursday, December 15, 2022

1. INTERNSHIP TOPIC:
"An assessment of the relevance of ADB’s support for the environment in helping address food insecurity in Asia and the Pacific, which will be an input into the 2024 evaluation of ADB Support for Rural Development and Food Security."

2. SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
ADB’s operational priority 5 (OP5) aims to promote rural development and food security in Asia and the Pacific. ADB’s sector and thematic work all contribute to varying degrees on the objectives of OP5. One of these key areas of support is on the environment, which is the resource base upon which much of rural development depends and which has been subject to increasing pressures and degradation. ADB’s work on environment includes supporting DMCs in improving environmental management, including pollution control; investing in natural capital conservation and restoration; improving environmental governance; addressing competing water demands for food and energy production; and ensuring that projects contribute to water, energy, and food security.

This internship will involve assessing available evaluative evidence at project and country levels to identify good practices where ADB support for environment is also helping deliver on ADB objectives for rural development and food security. It will also include a strategic assessment of ADB’s positioning of its support to the environment as part of its rural development and food security approach and a comparison of approaches adopted in other multilateral development banks.
